Independence Health Accountable Care Organization

The Independence Health Accountable Care Organization has chosen to participate in the Medicare Shared Savings Program, a new initiative sponsored by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as an Accountable Care Organization (ACO).

Independence Health Accountable Care Organization will work with Medicare to provide Medicare Fee-for-Service beneficiaries with high quality care, while reducing growth in Medicare expenditures through enhanced care coordination. Northwest Ohio ACO is a partnership between the physicians and medical staff of the following providers:

• Toledo Clinic, Inc.
• Wood Health Company LLC
• Wood County Womens Care of Bowling Green, LLC

Independence Health Accountable Care Organization is not a health plan or managed care plan. Unlike a managed care plan, Medicare beneficiaries will not be locked into a restricted panel of providers. Beneficiaries seeing doctors participating in Independence Health Accountable Care Organization will maintain the ability to see any doctor or healthcare providers, as well as receive the full benefits associated with Original Medicare.
