What is an ACO?

An Independence Health Accountable Care Organization is a group of doctors, hospitals, and associated health care providers who have come together to provide high quality, coordinated care to the Medicare Fee-for-Service population they serve. Coordinated care helps ensure that Medicare Fee-for-Service patients, especially those who are chronically ill, will receive the right care at the right time, with the goal of reducing duplication of medical services and preventing medical errors.
